Salam,
Quran tells us not to be extravagant...with our money ..
for example, if i want to go on a holiday..which is not a needs based thing...should i not go and donate the money to the needy? or is it ok to go actually? what i am asking is ,when do we cross the line of extravagance? parwez quoted lavish spending on marriages and funerals as an example....just wondering what scenarios would constitute lavish/extravagance?
Regards,

Salam
It depends what is the purpose of your holidays.
and that purpose is need,if this need is lavish it is useless.if it is for benifiting you or the community it is not lavish.
for example you need to relax,or explore the nature and the beauty of nature.
with out prupose it is useless and with purpose it is usefull.
