Equality, Justice, and Respect for Human Rights are the common traits of all religions. All belief systems have some unique and common miracles, folklores, and myths that defy common sense. The differences in the religious mythologies, if taken seriously, divide up humanity up to the point of mutual intolerance and animosity. If we tolerate and respect the fault lines within each religion and do not allow them to become the divisive forces, we humans can maintain Love, Respect, Equality, and the Rule of Law.
The entire universe is constantly going through the process of evolution. The modern mind cannot digest the folklores of the ascension of Jesus, his second coming from heaven without any vehicle, and then asking for a ladder to get down from the roof of a mosque. Islam also has a story about the Prophet traveling from the ground to the top floor of heaven for a visit to the omnipresent Almighty. Islam is an evolutionary religion that invites people to explore the universe to enhance scientific knowledge. Also, Allah says in the Book that He does not deviate from his established Laws of governing this Universe.
Giving undue importance to the folklores has divided up the people against each other. They cannot tolerate the mutual differences of opinions. Speaking of the day of Judgement, I have not read anywhere in the Book where people will be judged based on their belief in ascension, virgin birth, or the overnight journey of the Holy Prophet from Mecca to the 7th heaven and back.
