Qur'an says we can eat the meat of animals, humane slaughter with running blood letting a requirement.
Qur'an does not say animals are humans, and most people of knowledge would agree with this.
Eating is a personal/cultural choice so you can be a vegetarian, vegan and meat eater and Qur'an does not contradict this.
Some animals only eat veges, some only meat, others both; humans can do both and there is no Qur'anic verse stating meat eating is unethical or cruel to animals as their life is forfeited for our enjoyment and nourishment.
I find no sense in attributing animals with human senses, though I know fully well they are not senseless or feeling-less, and saying they have families is not the same as us.
Eating animals can be emotional and caring humans who think about this are not wrong, but keep everything in context, a balanced way of looking at this, and everyone can be satisfied.
