Islam was the first to abolish slavery

Salam Alaikum,

Islam was the first to abolish slavery. Later on, "Imams" and kings wanted to revive it.

With the Black Lives Matter movement, slavery is once again in the news. Did Islam abolish it? Did Muslims violate the Quran when they engaged in the slave trade? Who kept slavery alive? Have a look at the article and make your own decision after asking a simple question. Will the creator who created all equal and free ask his followers to enslave others for their comfort? Why did the Prophet free slaves and encouraged his followers to do so? Did he ever encourage anyone to buy a slave? Have a look at this article.
