"And according to the director of Norway’s public health agency, "Our assessment now, and I find that there is a broad consensus in relation to the reopening, was that one could probably achieve the same effect -- and avoid part of the unfortunate repercussions -- by not closing. But, instead, staying open with precautions to stop the spread."
The words above say "could probably" so there is some doubt as to whether partial lockdown which we had in the Uk was effective or whether people PROPERLY exercising social distancing could have achieved the same result.
I suspect that unless you frighten the people enough with a lockdown, social distancing would have been treated as a joke, as evidenced in most supermarkets before and during the lockdown. UK is opening up, watch this space.
Chinese locked down massively, few 'confirmed' deaths, the USA did it too late, 100,000 dead and rising. Let us watch the games as all states open and few stay away from each other!
PS some countries have had relatively few cases and deaths per capita and this is something future research will try to find out why.
