Is Muslim God an Arab God?
What’s keeping me up for the last few nights are the questions why as a Muslim I pray and do all my religious rituals in Arabic. I do not understand Arabic, it is not my mother tongue and when I pray, I, for the most part, do not understand what I am saying.
Gradually, I am beginning to realize that performing religious rituals and prayers in Arabic is probably a deliberate effort of the early Arab Muslims to establish and keep their supremacy over the non-Arab Muslims. Similarly, Mullahs are keeping the non-Arabic audience in a sort of spiritual bondage by following the Arabs by sticking with Arabic in their sermons, prayers, Nikah ceremony and the prayer of Janaza.
The non-Arab audience continues to say Ameen, Subhan-Allah, and Allahu-Akbar without much understanding when the man in the pulpit is doing his Friday's sermon in Arabic. The Christians, Hindus, Sikhs and the Jews worship in their native tongues then why not Muslims? Is the Muslim God an Arab God?
