"My message to all the activists: to just keep going. And I know it’s — it
may seem impossible and hopeless sometimes. It always does. So, you just
have to continue, because if you try hard enough and long enough, you will
make a difference. And if enough people stand together, fight for the right
thing, then anything can happen." Climate activist 16 y.o. Greta Thunberg

Action: Join us for the second meeting of the group "Palestine Action for
the Planet" held 3-5 PM Saturday 7 September at the Palestine Institute for
Biodiversity and Sustainability (Location here: palestinenature.org/visit
). These are biweekly meetings to take actions. On agenda included in our
first meeting planning several actions (see
http://www.palestinenature.org/palestine-action/ ). In this more expanded
meeting, we will get to work more seriously. We need you to join us.

News items from our group this week: We received notification of approval
of funding for a major grant. We also submitted three papers for
publications last week and one was also published last week (paper by
Mohammad Najajrah based on his master thesis on ladybeetles in our area 46
pages in the latest issue of Zootaxa). We also concluded a grant on cultural
heritage but its outputs like the ethnography exhibit at the museum and the
intangible heritage databases which so far has 1587 proverbs, 379
agricultural tools, 209 folkloric songs, 278 plants and more (see
https://turathna.palestinenature.org/ in Arabic). We are hosting several
volunteers and Jessie (also a volunteer) is in China learning about botanical
gardens and herbaria. Classes started at colleges and universities (I teach
a course in advanced molecular biology and another in fauna and flora).
Staff is doing well despite the hardship of part-time employment. We thank
those who donated (palestinenature.org/donations ).

(Finally) Gideon Levy wrote in Haaretz: “Germany has just criminalized
justice. A blend of warranted guilt feelings, orchestrated and taken to
sickening extremes by cynical and manipulative Israeli extortion, caused
the federal parliament [] to pass one of the most outrageous and bizarre
resolutions since the end of World War II. The Bundestag has defined the
boycott, divestment and sanctions movement against Israel as anti-Semitic.
Benjamin Netanyahu and Gilad Erdan rejoiced. Germany ought to be ashamed.”

Stay Human and come visit us in Palestine
