Life in colonized Palestine

Life in colonized Palestine trudges along. I spend 14-15 hours a day
volunteering at the museum and the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and
Sustainability on projects that help children and university students and
many adults to fluorish and increase respect (for ourselves, for others,
for nature). I spend two hours a day reading (books and news like the ones
below). The reading parts allow one to contemplate and the more I read the
more I worry that I will lose faith in humanity. I sometimes seek the
wisdom of my mother who celebrated her 87th birthday this week. She is
highly educated and not too optimistic on humanity. She thinks I do too
much for others and she asks why I volunteer all this time and spend all my
savings on others. I tell her because it makes me happy and useful
[actually I should tell her because she taught me well by example]. It does
not mean I am certain that all I do is useful. I make mistakes many times.
I hope I learn from them. But I count my blessings when I think of the
starving bombed people of Yemen or Gaza (and we try to help!). But the most
important thing I tell my mother is that resistance is existance, it is
hope. As the subtitle of my last book was "Popular Resistance in Palestine:
A history of hope and empowerment." So despite occasional bad news and the
Zionist intent to push the US into a new war (this time with Iran), we
remain hopeful and empowered. Truth will trump (sic) the lies.
