"Reason with them in the best of ways" has already been tried and failed.
Same principles when harsh language is used describing a state of hell. Why frighten people?
As for beef eating, people are allowed to eat beef even in India. India is a secular country not a Hindu one. If the Hindi majority do not like eating beef then we have to respect them for this, though not agreeing with them, but I do not see why they should impose a ban on those who want to eat it.
Not wanting to add oil to the fire, Hinduism places more reference on the cow than an untouchable, so they cannot teach us anything about right and wrong.
