Condolences to the people of New Zealand and the families of those murdered and injured in todays evil act of terror committed against innocent Muslim worshippers. As details emerge as to the motives behind this act of the ignorant, what I would have liked to tell world leaders is that this barbarity has clearly been facilitated by the rise of a certain political rhetoric that is obviously not being condemned enough. A narrative of exclusion and walls, both physical or psychological, resulting in the normalization of hate speech towards the needy, and hateful acts towards the different. Angry sentiments that have today shamelessly gained front row seats in the mainstream politics of otherwise the most developed countries in the world since the rise of a global refugee crisis. Failure to utter total carpet condemnation to all evil acts of religious bigotry regardless of the victim or the color of the perpetrator, is comparable to allowing the rise of fascism in 1930's Europe. I call it pink terrorism as such acts of terror tend to be widely considered as just another ordinary crime by a mentally disturbed individual who needs sympathy and understanding when terrorism is committed by a certain type of person against a particular known religion, and it only becomes global terrorism where Middle Eastern countries should be bombed by the most advanced fighter jets if it is a member of the Islamic faith behind such a crime.
Again my condolences to New Zealand, and my heart goes out to entire communities who must now live in fear of their lives and those of their children at the mere site of a certain type of their fellow citizens because of the bigoted acts of intolerance of one person who today has single-handedly attempted to shred to pieces a social fabric grounded in internationally respected values of religious freedoms, liberty and the rule of law. Thus wasn't he acting under an identical ideological frame of mind as members of the known terrorist groups that have hounded and murdered the Yazidis, the kurds and the Syrian Christians in order to create a state where only their religion (or their race) is acceptable?
