Caliphate by name, dynastic monarchy in reality.

The Umayyad Caliphate with its capital as Damascus was overthrown in 134 AH (661-750 CE) and the Abbasid Dynasty with their capital as Baghdad ruled between (750-1258 CE).

Abu Muslim Khurasani invited the entire 87 Umayyad family members at dinner in 750 CE and got them massacred. The only survivor of the Umayyad dynasty was the brilliant Prince Abdur Rahman Ad-Daakhil who traveled to Spain and established the magnificent Umayyad dynasty among the conquering Arabs present there (751-1492).
