Dear Dr. Shabbir,
Salam O Rahmat
Why do we find some sexist material and double standards against women even in the works of Ragheb e Esfahaani / Raghib Isfahani (e.g. the book Muhaazirat/Navaader) who was a great scholar of the Quran?
I mean, there were a few scholars include Raghib who used their intellect and rejected false theological beliefs of their era even at the cost of their life, but why can we not find even one medieval scholar of the Quran who reject traditional interpretation of the verse 4:34, defend women's rights etc?
Regards and best wishes,
