If we are not discussing the profound details about prayers (du'a) in the Quran, each of us might have different views and experiences about du'a. With due respects to the great Allamas (Iqbal & Pervez) disagreeing with them, I am a firm believer in du'as.

In a hopeless situation, a du'a really fails to emanate from your heart. So, that is a different situation. Otherwise, an earnest du'a motivates us, gives us confidence and "even might bring about extrinsic changes." How? We need to learn.

Let us look here:

45:22 God has created the heavens and earth with a definite purpose, and in order that every ‘self’ may be compensated for what it has earned. And no injustice will be done to them.

Science still needs to understand how human emotions and actions are connected to the celestial system in the universe.

We are still so ignorant.

As I said, people have different experiences and opinions about du'a. I think we need to learn a lot more on the connection between our thoughts and actions, their recompense and the design of the universe.

21:16 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere play, or without purpose. [11:7, 45:22, 53:31]

45:22 God has created the heavens and earth with a definite purpose, and in order that every ‘self’ may be compensated for what it has earned. And no injustice will be done to them.
