After three and half years working countless hours we are pleased to announce the launch of Br. JR Ahmed book. Here is a short introduction.
My science background further taught me to look at facts, analyse the data, and then come to a reasoned conclusion. Indoctrination, deaf, dumb and blind beliefs and practices play no part in this and I have a no compromise position on what the Quran says.
At the age of 30 I found an anti Islam website and thought that if all they said were true then my life so far had been a lie. I studied the Quranic verses they quoted, found them to be taken out of context or an illegitimate translation used, and turned their lies into a lifelong 'obsession' of seeking out falsehood surrounding Islam; both from non Muslims as well as many so-called Muslims, the followers of a number 2 Islam, N2I. This is the foreign influenced, innovated with cultural practices made ‘Islamic and mostly devoid of the pure Quranic ideology. I have read extensively on comparative religion, as well as the Quran and hadith and I began writing articles for personal reference in 2000, putting together everything I could find on various topics that were of interest to me. This forms part of this book and future books, as well as many posts that have been written in response to questions on OURBEACON.COM, a website hosted by a kindred spirit, Dr Shabbir Ahmed, who has taken on the mantle of eliminating falsehood in 'Islam'; here, here!
My first book that I read on the way Islam is supposed to be understood was 'Islam, A Challenge to Religion' by Allama Ghulam Ahmed Parwez, Sahib This scholar came from a long history of intellectuals and I am a firm believer in the mu'tazilah concept of "the Quran plus logic and human reason". The term “Parwezi” has now become part of the backward, unthinking, ‘follow my ancestors’ regardless of the truth or consequences vernacular of the anti Quran, hadith worshipping N2I muslims. Parwez was a scholar and interpreter of the Quran, just like Abdullah Yusuf Ali, Muhammad Asad, etc. The only difference between them is that he and some others put the understanding of the Quran in the ‘from the Quran’ school of thought instead of drowning it with false traditions derived from dubious ancestors. Parwez did not create a new sect, did not make himself infallible, neither a ‘messenger of our time’, but simply wanted to put the Quran first in the misused oxymoron phrase, Quran and Sunnah. This is summed up in the following:
56:77 That this Qur’an is a Noble Monograph.
56:78 In a well-guarded Book. [As conveyed to you]
56:79 This is a Book that none but the pure of mind can grasp. [Those who approach the Qur’an with minds contaminated with preconceived notions and extrinsic material, will never understand it. Mutahharoon = Those who rid their minds of blind following and false dogmas. (2:222). It is a common insult to say that men cannot touch it without wudhu (ablution) and women cannot touch it during menstruation. Why would God place hurdles in the way of approaching His guidance?]
56:80 A revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.
56:81 Is it this Hadith that you would hold in low esteem? [And uphold manmade hadith]
56:82 And make its denial your daily bread? [Making money by peddling conjecture, such as frightening people with the spurious dogmas of ‘evil eye’ or ‘demon-possession’ and claiming to cure them by blowing into knots or water to drink!]
I contacted Br. Ahmed around 3 and half years ago to put his articles in book form to aid students of the Qur'an. Why? During my own Qur'anic journey, I noticed the same questions arising on a daily occurrence. What was desperately required is a reference guide to challenge the extraneous assertions by the traditionalist understanding of Qu’ranic concepts. Allama Parwez literary provides the complete foundation of the functioning Deen however to reach the ideal it takes a deep awakening within man to grasp the Qur'anic eimaan. The books’ objective is to introduce Qur'anic thoughts and for the reader to question his very existence by going into the mind of a Qur'anic student. What started as a simple task of arranging articles has ended up working through two thousand pages of short essays. I humbly believe that the book and Br. Ahmed penmanship will launch a platform for a new generation of thinkers and take us to the uphill road of established of Deen.
Thank you to Uncle Shabbir, Br. Yusuf Desai, Br. Noman Waseem and Sr. Fatimah Hashim for bringing the publication to reality.
