Salaams Dr. Shabbir,
I think people will react more strongly to the unjust death of an individual than an abstract number of deaths. But the fact that Saudis did this in Turkey instead of their own country was flagrant even for them. I think many people also thought MBS was going to be some "enlightened" despot because of his attempts to modernize KSA. But his view of modernization is really economic and doesn't include basic human rights. Meanwhile, a humanitarian crisis is occurring in Yemen because of Saudi bombings and blockades and Houthi rebels confiscating aid meant for civilians. Yemeni children are dying at an alarming rate. The U.N. should push Saudi, Houthi rebels, and their benefactor, Iran, to negotiate an end to this disaster. Sometimes Muslims get more upset when Muslims are killed by non-Muslims. Does anyone think the Yemini children killed by a bomb dropped on their school bus cared that it was dropped by Muslims?
