Like the people of science, Abraham also used “the natural laws of the different dominions of the heavens and the earth, so that he might (with understanding) have certitude” in all the affairs of human life relative to the scientific nature of our creation and Universe, (Al Qur’an 6:75, 30:30).

Unfortunately, the people of science do not use the natural methodology of Nature, namely that of ilm-ul-yaqin (certainty of knowledge by inference and reasoning), ayn-ul-yaqin (certainty of knowledge by seeing and observing) and haqq-ul-yaqin (absolute knowledge, like this is a tree, etc), to establish “certainty of knowledge” in all the affairs of our lives in our Universe, like plants and animals do.

They use the “science based” and “evidence based” methodology of modern science to do so, which is alien to the Nature of our Universe. And it is because of this they separate the secular from the religious and do not believe in the supernatural, although like the people of the Abrahamic Faith, they use “the natural laws of the different dominions of the heavens and the earth”, to establish what they believe is the true knowledge of our Universe.

Hence, people who “follow the Creeds of Abraham” are not alien to our Universe like the people who follow science. They relate to “the natural laws of the different dominions of the heavens and the earth” in every way, even in methodology, in a way a haneef (a person of pure natural beliefs) adheres to AdDeeni Haneefan (Divine System based on the natural laws of His creations), like plants and animals do.

Hence, they (the people who follow the Creeds of Abraham) believe in the natural and the supernatural in due measure and proportion or as they deem fit in the most balanced manner according to the knowledge of the Qur’an. They do not pick and chose what suits them in Nature and science and reject that which does not suit them.

Hence, they reduce both religion and Godless science to Reality without favor for the secular or the religious, by rejecting the dichotomy of the secular and religious and all extremists and fundamentalists teachings and practices within and between them that make them separate and exclusive. It is in this way they use the Qur’an to superimpose the knowledge of science, religion, culture, politics, etc, one on top of the other without creating any boundaries within and between them that make them separate and exclusive.

Thus, the obsession in modern science to science is not due to science itself but is due to the methodology it uses to establish science. Hence, it finds it hard to accept that the Creative Power of God from which it has learnt its science has the Power to feed events in Nature that do not suspend or break the Laws of Nature.

Unfortunately, the Molvies also do not believe in a Deen which relate to the scientific nature of our creation and Universe. They have also conjectured their methodology of blind faith to establish their way of life of the natural and supernatural, most of which is not supported by the true knowledge of the Qur’an.

I think in the interest of the true knowledge of the Qur’an, we should examine all these methodologies and see which is relative to our Universe and which are alien to it.

If I am reminded that I miss a gap in the true knowledge of the Qur’an I will gladly accept.

Best Regards,
AK Sayed (South Africa).
