Dear Qureshi Sahib,
I am sure, your article will make Richard Dawkins very happy if he happen to see it. The argument that you have presented against the existence of God is that science has not been able to confirm God’s existence. Would the absence of a proof be the proof of the absence of something?
Suppose I go to a physician or a scientist who has access to every scientific instrument ever invented and tell them that I have headache, or I am sad or happy or I love or hate someone; would they be able to confirm the existence or absence of my stated condition? If no, then you can see the limits of science. It does not have answer to everything. It is also evolving along with the evolution of the human intelligence.
You appear to be putting all your eggs in one basket, the basket of science, which has its own limits. You are not alone, there are millions of others who have put a blind faith in what some (not all) scientists say about the creation. That is your choice and I am ok with that. But I do have a couple of question if you wouldn’t mind answering them:
Could you please share with me which branch of science actually provides a proof that all living things including man were evolved out of something as fundamental as a microscopic cell and then mutations taking place over millions of years along with natural selection, created animals, birds and all living things including the human beings. Most importantly, the life and consciousness – how would that be created via mutation and natural selection over time? Has science provided any proofs? Has any paleontologist found any links to connect the dots between the early life and the present form of human or animal life? Have seen any proofs or do you have blind faith?
My second and last question is from a verse from the Holy Quran. It is verse 30, from Chapter 21:
“ARE, THEN, they who are bent on denying the truth not aware that the heavens and the earth were [once] one single entity, which We then parted asunder? ……..”
Would this be anything other than the Big Bang, discovered some 70 years ago, about the creation of the universe?
The question is how would the Quran know this 1400 years ago without the benefit of the modern cosmology? There are many other verses that you can find in the Quran which could not have been written by the people of that time. Do you think Mohammad and his companions wrote all that in the Quran? Here is an application of modern science for you. Do you see the authentication of the Quranic verse by science?
If you decide to reply, please reply to the whole group, if possible.
