Dear friends,

I am completing my tenure as Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States at the end of this month.
I am retiring after spending 37 fabulous years in the Foreign Service of Pakistan. I cannot thank my Creator enough for giving me the opportunity to serve my country and our people.

My last stint in the United States as Ambassador of Pakistan has also been educating. It was my privilege to find friends for my country in a complex and difficult phase of the relationship. I believe that our relationship with the United States has been historic and longstanding across a multitude of fields as diverse as defense, agriculture, science & technology, IT, education, culture, energy, water, trade and economy etc.

Throughout my stint in Washington, I spent a significant amount of my time in cementing these broad-based relations and seeking partners for Pakistan-U.S. friendship. My outreach included over 60 U.S. Senators and Congressmen and numerous elected officials at the State and local levels. Some of these meetings were arranged in their constituencies with the help of notable Pakistani Americans.

I also addressed a wide range of think-tanks and academic institutions across America where I presented Pakistan's case to foreign policy experts, analysts, as well as professors, scholars and students. I found keen interest in Pakistan's economic growth and our security successes. These realities have been often ignored by mainstream media and are thus not widely known.

The most effective and memorable part of my outreach was with the Pakistani American community. With over a million diaspora, the United States has benefited enormously from the contribution of Pakistani Americans. I traveled regularly to the main centers of concentration of our community such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Boston, and several other cities.

I attended over a hundred community events and interacted with a large number of community organizations and prominent individuals. Everywhere I went, I was overwhelmed by the love and affection of the Pakistani American community towards Pakistan, their land of heritage. I will never forget the hospitality and warmth shown by our diaspora. You are the true ambassadors of Pakistan in the United States and guarantors of the enduring nature of our bilateral relations.

To effectively communicate our message, I also launched a new Embassy website along modem lines. We have established a database of prominent Pakistani Americans from all over the U.S. and we send out our press releases and other important messages through email to them. We also produced several publications including newsletters, year book, and a fact sheet on counter terrorism.

To culminate the outreach program, the Embassy organized a historic community and youth convention in Washington D.C. on April 14, 2018, which was attended by prominent Pakistanis from all over the Il.S. The convention deliberated on a number of important matters for the Pakistani American community and the participants resolved to hold similar activities in the coming months.

In the end, I wish to recognize your contribution for our community and our country, and also to thank you all for your support, encouragement and prayers which remained with me throughout my term as Ambassador. I leave this station with great pride in and confidence on our officials posted at the Embassy and Consulates General. They are dedicated professionals and will continue to serve the community in every way possible.

I wish you all good health and prosperity and I look forward to remaining in touch with you in future. Q.c6"nAs, b^rw (Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry)
