It is oft repeated that Islam is not a religion, but a complete way of life. It offers solutions to all the problems facing human beings. If strictly followed Islam offers a respectful life and accomplishment of a just society. But seeing the reality, in religious Pakistan or in other Islamic countries, we find little trace of rationality or the concept of ‘reason’ in religious life. Without the understanding of concept of reason society is chaotic and irrational.
As a simplest example, it is reason that offers reason for building two way coming and going traffic. It is with unreason people do not differentiate and enter into oncoming traffic to reach home faster at the expense of creating chaotic traffic. Here reason demands patience, discipline and justice for all commuters. Unless, the understanding of ‘reason’ infused in every walks of society, Islam remains idealism with germinating irrationality and fanaticism as its venting force.
