There is no compromise of intellect or reason on my part. Let me explain so we are clear:
Intellect does not allow me to accept A heard it from B who heard it from C, D,E,and F who allegedly heard it from the Messenger; we are reliant only Bukhari for authenticating his hadith. It is at best what Bukhari or 'A' understood about an alleged saying of the Messenger, not what the Messenger really said.
The Quran states in no uncertain terms that we must ONLY FOLLOW THE QURAN, so my intellect and reason says I should only do this and then it goes on to question why Bukhari etc wrote his hadith.
If I read the Quran that women should place their covers over their chests, then I read that this means head and faces because the Messenger reportedly made this compulsory after Omar allegedly recognied a wife of the Messenger who was walking to a public toilet area, or Ayesha was going on a journey with the Messenger so this verse was revealed by Allah for her to cover her face, then I do not think that the hadith of Bukhari does anything for my understanding of the Quran.
There are obscene, degrading, insulting hadith, not only for the Messenger but his companions, and if you do not reject them all then who are you to question any hadith when Bulhari was better placed to authenticate them than you? If you are able to question even one hadith, then you should question the integrity of Bukhari and all his hadith.
The Quran says it is the best hadith so you may keep your last best or not rated hadith.
31:6 But among people, there are those who invest their time in Hadith which is unfounded, so as to lead those without knowledge away from the path of God, making mockery of it (the Qur’an). For such there is a humiliating punishment in store.
[In order to defend the ‘Imams’ of Hadith, some commentators try to explain away Lahwal Hadith as music. This obviously makes no linguistic or contextual sense]
31:7 Whenever Our verses are conveyed to such a purchaser of Hadith, he turns away in arrogance as if he never heard them - as if there were deafness in his ears. So give him the tidings of a painful doom.
31:8 Whereas those who believe in the Word of God and fulfill the needs of others, for them are the Gardens of delight.
7:185 Can they not see (and correlate what he tells them with) the Dominion of the heavens and earth and what God has created? Does it ever occur to them that the end of their own life may be near (hence the time to make the right decisions is not unlimited)? In what Hadith after this (Qur’an) are they going to believe then?
39:23 God has now revealed the best Hadith, a Book fully consistent within itself. It marks out both ways (to success and failure) repeating its messages in diverse forms. Herewith shiver the skins of those who have some idea of the glory of their Lord, and then, their skins and their hearts soften at remembrance of God. This is the Guidance of God, and with it He guides one who seeks guidance. Whereas one who follows a path that God has declared to be wrong, goes astray and he cannot find a guide. [4:88, 15:87. Hadith = Narration]
45:6 These are the verses of God We convey to you with truth. Then, in what HADITH, if not in God and His verses, will they believe?
45:7 Woe to every fabricating impostor! [26:222. This draws our attention to forged Ahadith]
