Criticizing God in time of calamity is plain foolish. Why on earth one should think that the world is a disaster free abode for us. Regardless of theology in the discussion, one can only logically see that the impact of disaster are consequences of our inability to safeguard ourselves managing risks of our vulnerability. Without anticipating and managing risk, disasters are results of human failure.
Similarly, praising God for calamity is no less foolish. Trampling deaths during stampede Hajj crowd is the result of chaotic human indiscipline. But some passionate Muslims view such death as ‘Jannati’ pointing straight to heaven in the path of duty.
