We, the lovers of the ahlulbayt (a.s.) love all the members of the ahlulbayt without exception. We love the ahlulbayt not because they are the blood relatives of the holy prophet (peace be upon him and his immaculate progeny) but because Allah has commanded us Muslims to love them and the holy Prophet too showed enormous love and affection to these people. Not only that, but we also love all those who love the ahlulbayt. We dissociate ourselves from the enemies of the ahlulbayt and those who associate with them.
It is a myth that we discriminate the members of the ahlulbayt. The twelve Shi'te Imams are the true and the rightful successors of the holy Prophet after him. They are the best role models for the Ummah after the holy Prophet and the best source of guidance. In the light of the holy Qur'an they are infallible and sinless beings.
"Do you know that the twelve imams of the Shiites are all descendants of Al-Husain only? "
In the light of the above statement, please go and check facts before making such false statement.
Imam Ali (a.s.) is our first Imam. After him his eldest son Hasan (a.s.) is our second Imam. After him is Imam Ali's younger son, Husain (a.s.) our third Imam. From amongst the descendants from Imam Husain (a.s.) we have another nine holy Imams (peace and blessings of Allah be upon them all). The eleven holy Imams are the direct descendants of Imam Ali and Lady Fatema (peace and blessings be upon them all). This means that all these holy Imams inherited the knowledge of the holy Prophet directly from one to the next.
According to the school of the ahlulbayt (a.s.) the post of Imamat and successorship of the holy Prophet like prophethood is designated by Allah Himself and no one else. Had this been in the hands of Imams themselves, they would have surely passed this post to children of their own choice.
The sacrifice of Imam Husain (a.s.) in the plains of Kerbala was quite unique. Yazid bin Mu'awiyya bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah increase His punishment many fold) was representing tyrants like Firaun, Namroud, Haman, Shaddad, Abu Lahab, Abu Jahal and their likes. Imam Husain (a.s.) was representing all the prophets of Allah. He was representing Prophets Nuh, Ibrahim, Dawood, Moosa, Isaa and Muhammad (peace be upon them all).
Yazid was hell bent to destroy Islam from with in. He demanded an oath of allegiance from the grandson of the holy Prophet, son of Ali and Fatema, Imam Husain (peace and blessings of Allah be upon them all). In just fifty years time after the passing away of the Prophet of Islam, the worst creature to walk on the face of the earth, Yazid sits on the mimber of the holy Prophet and calls himself "khalifatul Muslimeen".
The war between Yazid bin Mu'awiyya and Imam Husain (a.s.) was not a war between two people but two opposite and contradictory ideologies. It is also important to bear in mind that this confrontation between Yazid and Imam Husain (a.s.) is also indicated in the holy Qur'an. The holy Prophet had also cautioned Muslims about this during his life time.
Imam Husain (a.s.) through his grand sacrifice has not only saved Islam but also saved humanity. Yes, it is very true that we give a lot of importance to Imam Husain (a.s.) but we do not ignore his parents, grandparents, children and grandchildren. We celebrate their birth anniversaries, death anniversaries, remind ourselves of their sacrifices for Islam and their contributions towards the propagation of Islam.
Allah has granted the office of Imamat in the lineage of Imam Husain (a.s.) because of his grand sacrifice for reviving Islam when Islam was almost dead by the time Yazid came into power.
We give so much importance to Imam Husain (a.s.) because in one hadith the holy Prophet had mentioned "Husain is from me and I am from Husain."
Through the remembrance of Imam Husain's sacrifice, we are reminding ourselves and all those around us who Imam Husain was and what did he stand for and who Yazid was and what did he stand for.
Imam Husain (a.s.) through his grand sacrifice gave the world a wonderful lesson which is death with dignity is better than life with humiliation.
It is indeed a very big tragedy for the Muslim community in general that they have no knowledge whatsoever who the ahlulbayt are, what are their sacrifices for Islam and how badly they were oppressed and tortured by the so called Muslims. Still worse they fall prey to false propaganda and believe anything and everything without carrying out their own research.
Muslims need to wake up from their deep slumber and take independent research on Islam seriously.
No one is suggesting anyone to become Shi'a or followers of the twelve Imams from the ahlulbayt. But at least do yourselves justice to find out as much as you can who were the flesh and blood of your Prophet. How come Muslims are being drummed much about the sahabas and almost nothing about their prophet's own family members?
Imam Husain (a.s.) is a member of the ahlulbayt. He is the beloved grandson of our most beloved Prophet. He is one of the two Princes of Paradise. He is the younger son of your fourth Rightful Caiph. Therefore, at least with these points in mind, make some more effort to study his life history so that you can put things in perspective rather than thriving on assumption.
