Allama Iqbal’s immense respect for the Exalted Messenger.
25:26 The Day the heaven with the clouds will be rent asunder, angels will be sent down,
a grand descent in ranks.
25:26 On that Day it will become obvious to all that the Sovereignty belongs to the Most
Gracious alone. So, a Day of distress it will be for all those who had been
rejecting the truth.
25:27 When the Day comes, the transgressor will bite his hands in anguish, exclaiming,
'Oh, I wish I had taken a path with the Messenger!'
25:28 'Oh, woe to me, I wish I hadn't taken so and so for a friend!'
25:29 'Indeed he led me away from the Reminder after it had come to me. Ah, the Satan
is but a traitor to the human being.'
25:30 And the Messenger will say, 'O My Lord! These are my people who had abandoned
this Qur'an as something to be discarded.' ['Mahjoor' = Villagers tie one
fore foot of the cow with its horn so that it walks lame]
Rubaiyat of Allama Iqbal, which he gave as a gift to a well wisher. Some writers think that there is a connection with Qura’n 25:30
Tu Ghani az Har Do Alam man Faqir
Roz e Mehshar Uzr Hai Man Pazeer
تو غنی از ہر دو عالم من فقیر
روز محشر عذر ہائے من پذیر
You are the self sufficient (un-wanting) and independent from both the worlds and I am a miserable Faqeer.
At the day of judgement (Doomsday) please accept my excuse and forgive me
Var Hisabam Ra Tu beeni Naguzeer
Az Nigah e Mustafa Pinhaan Bageer
ورحسابم را تو بینی نا گزیر
از نگاہ مصطفے پنہاں بگیر
If you must want to open my record and it is inevitable (unavoidable)
Please keep it hidden from my beloved prophet Mustafa (PBUH)
PS : This Ruba’i is available in the book “Zinda Rood”
Zinda Rood is a 4 volume biographical work of Justice Javed Iqbal on Muhammad Iqbal.
The correct line number 3 is as follows:
“Dar Hisabam Ra Tu Beeni Naguzeer”
There are many versions of line 3 and I was looking for the authentic source to confirm it. Finally, I got in “Zinda Rood”.
