Over the past few years, it has become a custom to place the crescent on top of mosques. We don't fine this in mosques constructed say, over a hundred years back. Why is this?
Falsely, some people believe that the Muslims believe in a "Moon God" therefore they place the crescent as a symbol on top of their centers of worship. Does not placing crescents on top of mosques contribute to this false belief?
Islam being strictly a monotheistic way of life abhors any devotion to objects of nature. What then is the significance of the crescent on top of mosques?
Kindly comment. Thanks.
