Dear brother, they are taking certain physical actions as in “17:107: … they fall down to their chins, prostrating”, and 17:109: … and they fall on their faces/chins, weeping, and it (this action of theirs) increases them (wayazīduhum) in humility.”
Thus, humility came about as result of “falling down in prostration and weeping.” Prostration and weeping in prostration are physical actions embodied in phrases “yakhirrūna lil'adhqāni sujjadan” and “wayakhirrūna lil'adhqāni yabkūna” in 17:107 and 17:109, respectively. Therefore, Sujood for man is a physical action as done by various prophets in response to God’s verses. Muslims do this sujood in their prayers as well as when not in prayers and such verses are read to them.
With reference to 37:103, Allama Parwez writes in Urdu Lughat p. 382 under tā lām lām as follows: “In Quran with reference to the story of hazrat Ibrahim and Ismael, the phrase “watallahu Liljabeeni =he put him down on the side of his kan-patti.” Is this not a physical action as per Allama Parwez?
