Salam Brother Shahalam!
You are quite right; there shouldn't be confusion. Indeed there woudn't be confusion if all those who profess to be Muslims simply follow the teachings of Allah as enshrined in the Quran. The confusion is in fact self engendered. It seems to me this confusion is not due to the lack of understanding of the Quran which can be be overcome by diligent study of the Book and seeking guidance from the great teachers of the Quran such as GA Parwez, and from the teachers of this Forum, Dr. Shabbir and J. Ahmed and other brilliant minds who grace this Forum. The confusion simply arises from the lack of conviction in the Word of God, not from doubting one's self, but doubting the teachings of the Quran hence one must seek other sources . I fail to understand why any thinking Muslim would follow the teachings of men rather than the Quran Revealed by God. We will be Judged by God on Judgement Day, not by any man, we will have to answer to GOD only, so why follow any man's teachings? It's the simplest logic! No Muslim can go wrong or get CONFUSED.
