Educational episode # 2:

How far do people have to undergo gymnastics with semantics, to provide tomes of debateable scientific studies, to twist clear verses of the Quran to bring Quranic interpretation into the realms of their perceived world-view and acceptability?

If one cannot submit to clear verses, why do they even claim to uphold it? Why don't they simply write another scripture in accordance to their worldviews and simply say we do not accept the Quran’s testimony?

How clear do verses of the Quran have to be my dear friend?

007.081
"Indeed, you approach men lustfully (shahwatan) instead of women. Nay, you are a people transgressing beyond bounds (musrifun)"

027.055
"Why do you approach men with lust (shahwatan) instead of women? Nay you are a people ignorant!"

How clear do these verses have to be?

'shahwah' means an intense yearning, longing or desire for a thing. It has an intense signification. It can be a reference to lust, carnal or gratification of venereal lust. It is the kind of lust a man would normally have for a woman (3:14)

The Quran recognises no institute of marriage other that of a man and a wife. The Quran is replete with laws and multifaceted guidance to deal with such an institution. It clearly recognises homosexuality as a transgression. That is certainly the Quranic position. We can accept it or reject it. However, we shouldn’t play games with it. There is no coercion in religion.

I am not suggesting anything but peaceful dealings with all peaceful members of society. This is not a judgment on any particular individual. That matter is for God alone (judgment). I am only relaying what I feel are clear verses of the Quran and its position on the matter.

What do you think?
