Saeed Queshi Ji is indeed a very good writer.
Same sex marriage or even being gay (men or women) is a perversion by the established old standards and it looks very un-natural. Truly marriage is between the opposite genders of a certain age. I consider even the marriage of a 60 years old to a 16 years
person of opposite sex a perversion.
Same sex in this context of Pres. Obama has become a politicized issue. The poor guy is damned if he opposes and damned now when he refuses to comdemn it. It is not a moral issue any more - but it should be. But then again there are many other moral issues that should be so but are not. Abortion for example. Is Fetus a human being and does it have any rights? Multiple marriages is another example. Bertrand Russel the British philosophers has expressed his views on it - read it if you want to know more.
It looks like Politics and Morality parted company long time ago. Now the keyword is Expediency or what is POLITICALLY CORRECT and whoever dares stick to morality in the context of politics becomes a loser. And once a person like Pres. Obama loses, out the window go several other significant agenda like the Medical Health Reform and other steps to control the Republicans Capitalistic Agenda and we have seen what mayhem ensued Bush Jr.'s term in office - Iraq attack and profiteering from it by Cheney and his gang. Well if you are a Republic Fan you must think I am writing gibberish.
Now Mitt Romney - a devout Chrisitian of the kind that Catholics and Protestants denounce, is also speaking in muted language about same sex marriage. He is not saying it is immoral but that "marriage traditioally is a union of two people of opposite gender. Why does not he spell out strongly "I oppose same sex". Pres. Obama qualified his statement saying "Personally I think people of opposite sex should be allowed to marry". He means legally and he is expressing his personal views - not that he would legislate in favor of same sex marriage.
My personal take on the subject is that "STATE SHOULD REFRAIN FROM LEGISLATING WHAT GOES ON IN THE BEDROOMS OF THE AMERICANS" and that applies elsewhere too. There are lot more important issues to handle than marriage.
