10:5 He is the One Who appointed the sun as a splendid glow, and the moon as a cool light. He appointed stages for the moon, in due measure. You make your calculations and calendars accordingly. God has created the Universe as the absolute reality and for a purpose. God explains His verses for those who wish to learn.
[The Universe is neither a dream as the ancient Hindu philosopher Manu preached, nor a reflection of the world of ideas as Plato thought. 6:97, 17:12]

17:85 (O Messenger) they ask you about Rooh (the "Spirit", Revelation, "Soul"). Tell them, "The "Spirit" is Divine Energy from which free will has been given to humans. Revelation is from your Lord's World of command, of which you have been given little knowledge." The "Soul" is your own "self".
[Rooh = "Spirit" = "Soul" = Revelation = Divine Energy = Angel of revelation. "Spirit" and "Soul" are non-Qur'anic terms. Only for their popular use, I have tried to describe them according to my best ability. Nafs (meaning Self) in the Qur'an comes closest to these two terms]

You might find this Wikipedia article to be interesting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_information

I see the ideas of information, programs, and emergence to be converging themes in theoretical physics. My own concepts also revolve around these ideas along with a "dual-World" approach (to borrow from Qur'anic terminology).

But there are probably as many physics theories out there as there are theoretical physicists, especially those on the fringe. The hard part is, once you come up with something general that seems to allow you to talk about information, programs, etc. in some systematic way, you then have to figure out how that ties into something really specific, like say, e=mc^2. Because of course existing physics is tried and tested, so your model needs to both be compatible with *all* of current tested physics, *and* do some extra explaining on some unknown, well, assuming you're trying to come up with a theory of everything ;)

For me personally, duality is a must (something the author disagrees with). And it helps that the Qur'an agrees with this line of thinking:

7:54 Your Sustainer is God Who created the heavens and earth in six stages, and then established Himself on the Throne of His Almightiness. He draws the night over the day, each seeking the other in rapid succession. The sun, the moon and the stars are committed to serve by His command. Remember! To Him belongs the World of Creation, and to Him belongs the World of Command. Exalted is God, the Lord of the Worlds.
