Br Jawaid, you have a point of view so do others. We respect your point of view and expect the same from you.

The word Salat has been used many times in the Qur'an. Depending on the context, it does mean prayer and no amount of verbal gymnasitcs do the trick.

Even Dr Shabbir and Allama Parwez (and many more Qur'an Above All scholars), who know Arabic much better then most of us, have translated the word as prayer when and where it means just that, depending on the context.

I believe some of us have a balanced view (we do not reject one particular meaning at the cost of the other) and therefore, wish to leave it at just that.

We perfectly understand where you are coming from: You don't support reading traditions into the Qur'an, and we respect that.

People on the forum are adults and are perfectly able to make up their own minds.
