A Very Rare Photograph of Bahadur Shah Zafar, the Last Mughal King ..

Bahadur Shah Zafar, the Last Mughal King of India

The last Muslim king of India, Bahadur Shah Zafar, was made to walk bare footed with his wife as prisoners all the way from Delhi, to Rangoon (Burma), where he died and was buried without any honour in an ordinary grave. This grave with times was ultimately surrounded by a brothel area which became thickly populated. In 1986, Gen Zia the president of Pakistan visited Burma as he thought to pay a visit to his place of destiny, where he landed with the Allied troops in Burma during World War II, in his tank as a young officer of the Armoured Corps. Here he was horrified to see the miserable plight of the grave and could not hold his tears. He promised to have this grave shifted to Pakistan as a national Muslim heritage. But after his death in 1988, the whole programme was shelved. History is cruel, Bahadur Shah Zafar, still lies buried in a brothel area in Rangoon, the Capital of Burma (Now named Myanmar).
