I must say I'm with Laurie. I myself use the 'wrong' version of the greeting around family and friends. But is it that important? What I mean is, is this version somehow blasphemous or unethical? I can see why 'maulana' is completely unethical and blasphemous. I can see why PBUH is practically an underhand (albeit unintentional) insult to the Prophet. But what is so very wrong with Assalamu Alaykum? Is the wording in itself damaging? Just curious. If there is a real problem I will drop it.
