Majority are not always right.
Only someone with a human personality needs their egos massaging with acts of worship and adoration, Praise the Lord! Since Allah is beyond all of that, then namaz should be for our benefit. I have had namaz described as a five time’s daily reminder of our duty to Allah, but it goes on without reminding us of His instructions. IF namaz was about reading different verses of the Quran in a language we understand, THEN there would be some benefit [just like the five times a week Bible study of the Jehovah’s Witnesses do in their kingdom halls, who can beat hands down the majority of Muslims on quoting scripture!], but it is not even that!
‘Ibadah = Obeying God by serving His creation = Worship? - Applies in the sense of ‘worship’ to idols only.
MANASIK = Ways of service and devotion to God, especially during Hajj (with camel sacrifice by some as needed for the congregation to be self-sufficient in food resource.) = Being of service to God by achieving human unity, and thus being of service to all mankind.
