The Qur'an emphasizes on good character. It attaches no importance to lineage. Hazrat Nooh's rebellious son got drowned in the great flood and his prophet father could not save him.

Hazrat Ibrahim could not save his idolater father Azar from eternal doom since Azar stubbornly opposed the truth of Monotheism.

In frank schism against the Qur'an, the Shi'ah clergy has been 'worshiping' the family of Muhammad (S) for a thousand years. They even consider their 12 Imams infallible gate-keepers of paradise.

They even distort the Qur'an trying to glorify the family of the exalted Prophet.

42:23 This is the good news from God to His servants who believe and lead a righteous life. Say, "No reward do I ask you for this other than that you show loving kindness to the ones near in the human bond. For, anyone who benefits people, We shall grant him additional good. God is Forgiving (absolving imperfections), Appreciative of gratitude.

[Fil Qurba = The near ones in human bond = Family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, employees. It does not mean relatives only, or the family of the exalted Prophet, as suggested by some people. The terms for relatives are Zil-Qurba and Aqraba]

There are three versions from the Last Sermon of the exalted Prophet. (Three versions of one sentence in the Sermon.)

01). I leave with you the Qur’an and my Sunnah. Muwatta, 46/3

02). I leave with you the Qur’an and Ahl al-bayt. Muslim 44/4, Number 2408; Ibn Hanbal 04/366; Darimi 23/1, Number 3319.

03). I leave for you the Qur’an alone, you shall uphold it. Muslim 15/19, Number 1218; Ibn Majah 25/84, Abu Dawud 11/56.

So... Qur’an & Ahl ul Bayt 1 out of 3. Qur’an & Sunnah 1 out of 3. Qur’an 3 out of 3. That should speak to the issue. But will it?
