2:144 We have seen your eagerness (O Messenger), therefore, We now make you turn to the Qiblah that is dear to you (for its Sublime objective). Hence, keep your Purpose focused on the Masjid of Security, and all of you believers, wherever you are, keep your Purpose focused toward it. And indeed, those who have been given the Scripture before know that this (Revelation) is the Truth from their Lord. And God is not unaware of what they do.
This ayat refers to Hazrat Ibrahim (Abraham) and not Muhammad SAW. In the Quran it is Abraham who looks up at the heavens and feels dissatified when the Sun and Moon and stars appear and disappear. That is why Makkah (in one place Bakkah) was ordained by God as the central place of Salaat. I can't recall the exact verses but I am sure the great teacher, who calls himself a student, will help.
If you apply this ayat to Muhammad SAW it creates confusion about the shifting of the Qiblah
