Salaam

In any case, we don't read tons of Hadees Books to learn Salat and follow our parents or teachers who taught us. Then there is the Shia Salaat and the Sunni Salaat and differences over Salaat of various sects. To avoid this mess, it is best to follow the Imam at Mecca!!

Here is someone who searched hadees and came back confused:

Posted by Javaid Ahmed:

After calling me a kafir for following the Quran [!!!!!?????] I was asked how I knew about praying since it is not mentioned in this Book. I responded that it is not, "not in the Quran", it is not in the complete hadith fairy tales either. I was then given the following references to ‘prove’ me wrong:-

http://www.central-mosque.com/fiqh/Prayer.htm

As you can see, 279 references from every Tom, Dick and Maulana, Pir you can name, and here was my response:-
Based on the above article I am told that I must believe in:-

1.The Quran,

BUT THIS IS NOT ENOUGH SO I MUST BELIEVE IN:-

2.The Quran and hadith, which include the following books:-
a.Sahih Bukhari, collected by Imam Bukhari (d. 870), includes 7275 hadiths
b.Sahih Muslim, collected by Muslim b. al-Hajjaj (d. 875), includes 9200
c.Sunan al-Sughra, collected by al-Nasa'i (d. 915)
d.Sunan Abi Da'ud, collected by Abu Da'ud (d. 888)
e.Sunan al-Tirmidhi, collected by al-Tirmidhi (d. 892)
f.This one is disputed. Sometimes referred to as Al-Muwatta, collected by Imam Malik (d. 796) and sometimes, Sunan Ibn Majah, collected by Ibn Majah (d. 886). Some have even considered Sunan al-Darami to be the sixth.
g.Kitab al-Kafi of Kulayni (divided into Usul al-Kafi, Furu al-Kafi and Rawdat al-Kafi)
h.Man la Yahdhuruhu'l Faqih of Shaikh Saduq
i.Tahdhib al-Ahkam by Abu Ja'far al-Tusi
j.Al-Istibsar by Abu Ja'far al-Tusi

BUT THIS IS NOT ENOUGH SO I MUST BELIEVE IN:-

3. The Quran, hadith and the commandments of the Imams, who are:-
a.Imam Malik
b.Imam Al Shafi
c.Imam Abu Hanifa
d.Imam Ahmad Abn Hambal
e.Abu jafar and the Twelve[eleven?]Imams

BUT THIS IS NOT ENOUGH SO I MUST BELIEVE IN:-

4. The Quran, hadith, commandments of Imams and the example of the early companions (THREE GENERATIONS):-
Salafi (Arabic: سلفي‎) is a Sunni Islamic movement that takes the pious ancestors, the (Salaf) of the patristic period of early Islam as exemplary models.[1] The word Salaf is an Arabic noun which may be translated as "predecessor" or "ancestor".[2] In Islamic terminology, it is generally used to refer to the first three generations of Muslims: the Sahabah ("The Companions"), the Tabi‘in ("The Followers") and the Taba‘ at-Tabi‘in ("Those after the Followers"). These three generations are looked upon as examples of how Islam should be practiced.

BUT THIS IS NOT ENOUGH SO I MUST BELIEVE IN:-

5. The Quran, hadith, Imams, 3 generations of companions, and the historians:-
Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Jarir al-Tabari (838-923 أبو جعفر محمد بن جرير الطبري) was one of the earliest, most prominent and famous Persian historian and exegete of the Qur'an,who wrote exclusively in Arabic, most famous for his Tarikh al-Tabari (History of the Prophets and Kings) and Tafsir al-Tabari.
Plus books of hanafi-ism(I will not list the other sacred texts of Shafi-ism, malik-ism etc. etc.)
Mutun (short texts):
Kitab al-Quduri
Al-Mukhtar
Matn al-Wiqaya
Kanz al-Daqa’iq

Shuruh (Commentaries) on the Mutun:
Al-Lubab fi Sharh al-Kitab
Sharh al-Wiqaya
Al-Ikhtiyar fi Ta`lil al-Mukhtar
Al-Hidaya (which then has had a number of commentaries upon it, the most famous being Fath al-Qadir)

Longer Commentaries:
Badai` al-Sanai` of Imam Kashani
Al-Mabsut of Imam Sarakhsi
Tabyiin al-Haqaiq Sharh Kanz al-Daqaiq by Imam Zayla`i
Al-Bahr al-Ra`iq by Imam Zayn al-Din ibn Nujaym
Al-Durr al-Mukhtar by Imam Ala’ al-Din al-Haskafi in two volumes, which was then commented upon in the "Radd al-Muhtar" by Ibn Abidin

Fatwa Books
Fatawa Qadi Khan
Al-Fatawa al-Tatarkhaniyya
al-Fatawa al-Hindiyya (or Fatawa Alamgiri)

Books of Evidence
Nasb al-Raya fi Takhrij Ahadith al-Hidaya of Imam xxx al-Zayla`i
I`la’ al-Sunan by Imam Dhafar al-Tahanawi
Etc

BUT THIS IS NOT ENOUGH SO I MUST BELIEVE IN:-

6.The Quran, hadith, Imams, 3generations, historians and Imams of the modern era, including:-
[Ibn al Turkumani 2/85. Born Cairo, (Egypt), 1314 Died probably Gülistan (Guliston, Uzbekistan), after 1354]
[91] Imam Abu Hanifah as recorded in Jam'i al Masaneed 1/355. Also reported by Ibn Abi Shaibah in his al Musannaf 2441 as well as his Musnad 323; Ahmad 3672, Abu Dawood 748, Tirmidhi 257; Nasai in al Mujtaba 1058 and also in al Sunan al Kubra 645 & 1099; Abu Ya'laa 5040 & 5302, and Baihaqi 2531. Ibn Hazam 2/ 264, Ibn al Turkumani 2/113 and Imam Nimawi 402 have all declared the hadeeth saheeh.

2/493, Allamah Anwar Shah al Kashmiri [was born in the beautiful valleys of Kashmir on 27 Shawwal 1292/26 November 1875 in a village called Dudwan which is near Kapwara in the valley of Lawlab. His parents were practising Muslims and thus he grew up in a religious environment. At the tender age of five, his father taught him the recitation of the Holy Qur'aan and at the age of seven he instructed him in Fars (Persian language).]

BUT THIS IS NOT ENOUGH SO I MUST BELIEVE IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is the world big enough to write all the exclamation marks this mad cow disease belief deserves?-

I asked one simple question; give me a set of instructions for the prayer that we do from the authentic hadith which you follow and I got the above references. All the instructions were not found in Sahih Bukhari even though he wrote complete books on prayers:-

Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 8: Prayers (Salat)
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 9: Virtues of the Prayer Hall (Sutra of the Musalla)
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 10: Times of the Prayers
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 11: Call to Prayers (Adhaan)
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 12: Characteristics of Prayer
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 13: Friday Prayer
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 14: Fear Prayer
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 15: The Two Festivals (Eids)
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 16: Witr Prayer
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 17: Invoking Allah for Rain (Istisqaa
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 18: Eclipses
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 19: Prostration During Recital of Qur'an
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 20: Shortening the Prayers (At-Taqseer)
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 21: Prayer at Night (Tahajjud)
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 22: Actions while Praying
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 23: Funerals (Al-Janaa'iz)
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 32: Praying at Night in Ramadaan (Taraweeh)

Very extensive titles, you must admit, but look at each book and you will see that only a few hadith have anything to do with the methodology of prayers! And many are like this:-

Bukhari,Volume 1, Book of Salat Book 8, Number 363: Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri
Allah's Apostle forbade Ishtimal-As-Samma' (wrapping one's body with a garment so that one cannot raise its end or take one's hand out of it). He also forbade Al-Ihtiba' (sitting on buttocks with knees close to abdomen and feet apart with the hands circling the knees) while wrapping oneself with a single garment, without having a part of it over the private parts.

What has this got to do with Salat? WHY no full instructions? We are told to pray like the hadith teach us but the method is not in them. Then we are told we have to rely on “scholars” of latter years to show us the mechanisms.
It goes from the sublime to the ridiculous!

something must be wrong with the hadith, for they are not “completing” the imperfect and incomplete Quran, are they?

The Qur'an calls itself mufassil. Which means all that is necessary is to be found there.

Do we dare question the Qur'an?
