Allama Aziz Ullah Bohio, a Deobandi aalam from Noshehro Feroze, Sind, a true admirer of Obaidullah Sindhi and a writer of many books on the exclusive authority of Quran as the Book of Guidance, has narrated some history about ‘Darul Ulum Deoband’s’ origins. A very short summary is given for interested friends.

While every small or big leader, soldier and volunteer of the Mutiny of 1857 was brutally tortured, killed or hanged by the British, Qasim Nanotwi from amongst the leaders, was excluded and saved from any punishment. Instead, he was financed to establish Darul Ulum Deoband. His son Hafiz Mohammad Ahmed, as soon as he grew up, was appointed a spy by the British. He regularly posted reports on the movement of Sheikh-ul-Hind, Mahmood al-Hassan to the British Governor through the Commissioner of Saharanpur. Maulna Ashraf Ali Thanvi’s brother Mazhar Ali was also appointed on a job of spying. Hafiz Mohammad Ahmed was generously awarded the title of Shamsul Ulama, estates and cash.

The conclusion: All the Fatwa mongers have been, and still are, on the payroll of either global or local capitalist mafia and to expose and perpetuate an ugly image of Islam is the foremost duty assigned to them.

God bless you.
