Perhaps we need to consider what kind of history or acrcheological evidence we need to study? The Qur'an says It is the study of the reasons of rise and fall of nations.
There may be several versions but there are things historian agree upon which may give us a clue to the reasons of rise and fall of nations. We have several nations to choose from: The Mayans, The Romans, The Mongols, The Turks, The Mughals, The Ming Empire, The Sasavids, The British, etc., etc.

We may need to be careful remain focused and not get stuck with narratives that have no bearing on the object of our study.
