Great job! The Republicans must be biting their nails tonight. Now is the time to pick the axe again and drive it through the heart of another blood sucker--our monstrous litigation Industry--the specter of frivolous law suits--like "My husband smoked a Philip Morris product for 30 years, he got cancer and is going to die--Philip Morris has been giving him slow poison"--Philip Morris gets sued and the dying patient (actually his surviving wife) gets 19 million dollars in damages. Well, didn't the dying person know already that cigarettes can cause cancer, emphysema? This is just one example of frivolous law suits. People get sued everyday--a lot of time for little things. And usually the judges and the juries are on the "victim" side--and the damages awards are highly disproportionate. Many professional folks are afraid and often can't help the needy because they are afraid of law suits. Health industry---and then all of us because of that--have to pay through our noses to pay someone else's "law suits". suing and judging right is good but let's maintain a sense of balance and proportion there.
We do need Legal services reforms now.
