Dr. Shabbir's books and articles justifies why Islam today lacks it's true spirit. To understand and follow TRUE ISLAM is not possible unless the sectarian cage is broken. One might think that being born under any specific brand of Islam is enough to claim muslimhood, which cannot inhereted. One might also think that I keep my label intact and still can follow TRUE Islam. As most of the un-Islamic beliefs and practices have sectarian base, so it seems absurd, either way.
Quran doesn't want it all and FORBIDS making sects. There are so many Ayat about not making divisions in Islam. I quote just one here .

ان الذين فرقوا دينهم وكانوا شيعا لست منهم في شئ انما امرهم الي الله ثم ينبئهم بما كانوا يفعلون
6:159(There is only one Straight Path) O Messenger! Those who break the unity of their Deen and become sects, you have nothing to do with them whatsoever. Indeed, their case will go to God and He will then tell them what they had been doing.
I feel it could be first step towards true religion.
