I'm not entirely sure.

But in regards to Saudi Arabia in particular.

The whole climate subject is something of subject.

About 50-70% of Saudi Arabia's BNP is oil.

If the world goes green and the price of oil goes down again.
Saudi Arabia will be hit extremely hard just like they did in the past.
There's not much else that country has to export.

It's no wonder that they'd go official and call it all lies.

As to whether the entire global climate crisis is a fuss or not.. that's another discussion altogether.
