(Is the Quran influencing our character today or not? If yes, how? If not, why not?)
By becoming an avid student of The Quran it changed my life. The Quran's message of personal responsibility, doing for self, we suffer the logical consequences of our actions, were profound in helping me to change my life. I am indebted to Dr. Shabbir for his excellent translation and I also approve of G.A. Parvez's translation; Both of these translations take the Spookism out of Deen. The 180 degree change from looking for a Spook in Outer Space as a God to knowing that Allah is everywhere but it is based on our ACTIONS not our Worship. I cannot expect for GOD to help me if I am breaking His Laws (fornicating, lying, stealing etc..) I can only be protected if I follow His Laws. Further still, we as a group can have Heaven on Earth if we collectively work to make a change in our Societies and if we do this, we do not need to die to go Heaven we will already have Heaven on Earth; We would not need to pray because through our efforts and hard work we would have GOD's System in place. It is good to change our Self but then that Change in Self is only half the job; The other half is a Collective Change. Once we can assimilate and grow as a Unit we can achieve The HereAfter; Right Now!
