Dear Br. Jawaid,

We should not hastily criticize Brothers Dr. Qamar Zaman and Akhtar Sherazi for taking a different stand on the issue of Halal and Haram. Please take some time to study and reflect on those verses of the Quran that seem to forbid us only four things. Are you 100% sure about the accuracy of the traditional or orthodox translations? Is there any possibility that those verses could mean something else? Are not you aware of the fact that our Persian Imams deliberately changed the meanings of Quranic verses to divert attention from the real issues?

Of course you can refute claims made by Dr. Qamar and Akhtar Sherazi. Please do so with sound evidence from the Quran and God’s Mighty Book of Nature. I second both brothers and applaud their courage to stand for the truth. Why? Please keep reading.

Surah Al-Maidah begins with the command of fulfilling our obligations or covenants. Then, the topic abruptly changes to forbidden foods. Who changed the topic abruptly, God Almighty or Persian Imams who translated the Quran?

If you really believe that God has forbidden us only four things, then you must also admit that God has essentially given us a green light to eat everything else. Then, how come we do not eat cats, dogs, rats, alligators, snakes, lizards, ants, flies, penguins, squirrels, foxes, wolves, tigers, lions, jackals, cheetahs, leopards, bears and countless other animals that roam the earth?

An Egyptian Mufti declared dogs and cats halal. Using the verse three of Surah Al-Maidah he claimed God forbid us only four foods. Hence, everything else was halal. Do you agree with him?

What if there are things even more harmful to our health or well being than those four?

Nobody can dispute the destructive effects of Alcohol. Yet God did not forbid it. Why?

[Note: Dr. Israr Ahmed, the self-proclaimed authority on the Quran, admitted to Dr. Javid Iqbal that the Quran did not forbid alcohol.]

Smoking is dangerous to our health. Yet, God did not even mention it. Why?

What about heroin, marijuana, steroids, and other harmful drugs? Did God forget about them?

Of course God did not forget anything. He made us the smartest creatures on earth and endowed us with not only knowledge of things but also the highest levels of intelligence, wisdom, and logic. Using these faculties we can easily find out what food is good or bad for our health. Even animals know their “foods”. Don’t they?
