A Historical day.
Today, Monday 23 Nov, 2009, Pakistan is rolling out its first JF-17 Thunder fighter aircraft at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamra. The aeronautical complex has generated the capability to produce the aircraft locally for delivery to the Pakistan Air Force and exports. The aircraft has the ability to carry short as well as long-range air-to-air missiles. It will replace the ageing fleets of A-5s, F-7Ps and the Mirages in the PAF inventory.
It is a point of great pride for Pakistan that after becoming first Muslim Nuclear power in 1998 and first Combat tank industrial nation, they are now first Muslim nation, which manufactured such state of the art technology superseding US F-16 and French Mirage. To some extent, they are now in line with US, France and Russia in this particular jet category. A great advantage will be that they will find lot of customers around the world due to their low cost factor, comparing to F-16's, Mirages and Russian Mig 31's.
Even though it didn't happen cheap, but then every achievement has its price.
For now, Congratulations Pakistan.
