What should happen with a Christian couple if the wife is interested in converting to Islam and the husband isn't? One of my female co-workers has become interested in Islam. She and her husband were both raised Roman Catholic although neither regularly attends church. They have been married for 10 years and have 3 children. I know that many people would recommend divorce if the wife does actually convert, but she loves her husband and she knows divorce is really devastating for children. Could she stay married to her husband if she can raise their children as Muslims? What if the husband wants them raised Christian? I think this issue of "post-wedding" mixed marriages is going to become even more prevelant in the West as more Christians convert to Islam. Is there any Qur'anic resolution to this issue outside of divorce?
