What that sick man did, is done. That is not the problem at the moment. It may be a problem for CNN, investigators etc. As far as we the Muslims are concerned, the damage is already done. "Why" is not of that much significance. If he was from any other community, he could have gotten a pass on the religious affiliation. 9/11, and many other events have eroded the trust deficit and we, as a community, have not done much to repair the situation. Blame it on anybody, but this is the fact.
What the others are doing against the humanity is a different story, even if the Muslims are the victims of those atrocities. We are losing a right to protest against those atrocities because we are not willing to own our religious problem. Bashing N2I is not without the merit. Most of the Muslims are not extremist and do not condone extremism, let alone terrorism. But most of the terrorists are N2I, and 95% of their victims are Muslims.
I am sure there are excuses!!!!
