Dear Hamdani Saheb,

I like your insight and deliberation. Yes, AAKIFOON are the people on special assignment from the state for community service to military defense.

WAKULOO WASHRABOO not only means "Eat and drink". At many places in the Qur'an as well as here it indicates conducting or enjoying life as usual.

There is no dispute that SAUM literally and allegorically means self-restraint or self-control.

I recall even a Hadith in agreement with the Qur'an. The exalted Prophet reportedly said that while SAUM is a shield against moral transgressions, anger and backbiting bore holes in this shield (rendering it useless, amounting to breaking the SAUM).
