Salam,

Brother Arif, I am a learner myself...Before we start discussing any verses I need to be clear on something which may seem a bit off-track from my understanding. I came across this scenario a few years ago when I was chatting with my sister in-law. She told me about their family friend who has two wives. Please don’t mind my candor but this is a true case not another “punked” episode. So here is what she told me.

Ever since that man married the second woman all they hear was fighting from that house. As a result perhaps, the person had started taking more business trips ... (his way of doing justice :) One day when he came back after a couple of months both his wives started fighting over whose turn it was. Now the man could not remember whose turn it was the last day he left and neither of the wives was settling in favor of other, so... the person said hell with all these turns... I'll sleep with both of you together. And that’s how it’s been going on since then.
Now…. while I was like aaaaaaaa whattttt, thats disg......! My sister in law said to me very innocently. ”That is actually a very good way. Isn’t that’s how it should be. He can do "justice" to both of them rather with all if there are more...Quran doesn’t stop this, does it?”

Well ok now you are thinking what I was at that time ...uhmmm is she pulling my leg, like checking how much of Quran I know!!
But seriously no matter what you think at that time I found my self in a tight spot. All I could say was, “uhmm well as long as they’re happy …I don’t really know I must check.”….and I have been checking ever since. And whatever then I discovered from Quran about marriages was a result of that search I started.

So before we proceed with any further discussion brothers who have some understanding on this topic of multiple marriages please solve this dilemma I couldn’t solve because I admit I am just a learner myself and might have missed some crucial points about marriage/s.

jazakAllah
