لاَ إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ
2:256 there is absolutely no compulsion or coercion in Deen.
but look at the following Haidth quoted by Abu Dawud . How shamelessly the above quoted basic principle of Qur’an is being denied.
Book 002, Hadith Number 0494.
Narated By As-Saburah : The Prophet (pbuh) said: Command a boy to pray when he reaches the age of seven years. When he becomes ten years old, then beat him for prayer.
So Command to offer pray at the age of seven and contrary to the teaching of Qur’an i.e there is no compulsion in Deen start beating at the age of ten .
Big question is why the age of “SEVEN” is so important but we can find the answer in the Zoroastrian Religion where
Five daily prayers, preceded by ablutions are required of every believer above the age of “seven”.
Above quoted Hadith from Abu Dawud not only denies a basic Quranic teaching i.e there is no compulsion by giving the idea of beating a boy but also tries to incorporate a Zoroastrian practice in the realm of Islam.
This is my a little effort to show the influence of Zoroastrian teachings on what we practice as Islam today .
