Dear brother Zubair,
I am still not convinced that ritual of namaz is totally wrong and maybe I am not right but I kind of inclined to the Allama Pervaiz’s opinion that Salaat is not just namaz it is also system build based upon the commands of Allah SWT.
I admire your boldness to give up the ritual once you understood that it is not ordained by Allah SWT, if you are right then you are first of the muslimeens.
I look it differently. In our time it is not the case that a messenger of Allah SWT is commanding us to follow him. So there is no question of Mutrifeen denying the truth presented by a Prophet. We all are thinking that we are following the truth and path of Prophet SA.
It is several different interpretations and viewpoints of the Quranic words which we are seeing/reading. In this scenario whatever is reached to us as practice may have been altered and lost some of the actual structure but it should not be so corrupted that we do not find anything correct in practice. It is very hard to believe that for centuries the Muslims were following just the corruption and there were no sincere Muslims existed during this long period of time who would have tried to restore the truth. Difference between muslims and other religion is that they had altered their books but it was not the case in Islam.
I think we may understand the role of masajids during the time of Rasool Allah SA. Because I feel the role of a masjid in USA is very positive so far and it has lot of benefit which we are currently reaping in this country.
• So what was different at the time of Rassol-Allah that muslim spread the word of Allah SWT from this masjid to all over Arab in just 10 years?
• What they used to do in masjid, just sit and talk, or planning, or asking question to Rasool-Allah?
• Do they used to gather there purposely? For what and when?
• Was there only one masjid-e-nabavi or there were more? If there were more what was their purpose?
I am not sure what is the opinion of Dr. Shabbir about giving up Namaz ritual but I think that he recognizes the masajids as where Name of Allah is mentioned like temples of other religions. These all temples are places where they perform rituals of their religions. (FYI Dr. Qamar has a different view of this verse)
22:40 Those who have been evicted from their homes unjustly, for no
reason other than saying, "Our Lord is God!" For, if God had not enabled
people to defend themselves against one another, monasteries,
churches, synagogues, and masjids, where the Name of God is oft
mentioned, would surely have been destroyed. And God will certainly
help those who help Him. God is Mighty, Powerful.
